Castillas San Felipe de Barajas, 6x4

Cartegena, Colombia, 4x6, December 2009

I enjoyed a nice long-relaxing weekend in of all places Colombia this past weekend (attended a wedding). I don't think I came close to being kidnapped and found time to work on quite a few small watercolors and sketches. As an important colonial city the old fort and wall surounding were reminders of the cities past signficance.

Of course everything always looks easier that it is, but there were at least a couple weeks between the sketch and the final.

All That & a bag of chips , Opened October 2009

My sister recently oped a sandwich shop in Florence, South Carolina. Hopefully this logo captures the flavor of the place. Simple looking food, well made, and original.

Two guys and a walking stick, August 2009

I started this last winter, but afer a few months of inactivity I picked the brushes back and finished this. It's a small work, pretty much a study, but still glad to put something in the 'done' pile. As soon as I finished the guys, I quickly completed the sleeping woman. I don't recall for sure, but I seem to think she was on the way to work vs. other places she might be coming from.

It's all hearsay, June 2009

Here's the near final product of my 'bored room' project. This one was exhibited at the Salmagundi Non-Members Graphic and Photography Show in New York. It's a collage of drawings and cut vellum of quote from the meeting.

White Sox Break Through, 4x6, June 2009

I watched the Sox hitters get shut-out for two days in a row before they broke through against Jeremy Sowers and the Cleveland Indians in the first on June 6. The lack of offense didn't keep me from filling up sketch cards of the games I was at.

Downtown on the 4

Painted from a photograph I shot, I don't think the actual guy was nearly as menacing. A little dramatic mood and color never hurt though.

Detail of hands.

Hope on the Way , March 2009

Technically, I painted this just after 'Cautious Morning' in November, but I am just now posting it. I think 'Hope' is here, it's just a few more stops down the line. I've slowly increased the size of painting that I've taken on. This one is definitely the largest once completed that I think holds up. At about 3ft wide, that's a page full of paint. I worked from a group of photographs including a couple shots of myself as fill-ins.

These guys do know each other and again seem to thinking the same thing.

Same Train, January 2009

I am continuing to find lots of interesting people on the streets, trains, and random places through the city. I am pretty sure they didn't know each other, but they were on the same train, going to the same place and they seem to be thinking the same thing.
